Singletary's Second TD Run Gives Jets 10-6 Win
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Devin Singletary scored on a 1-yard run with 3:06 left, and the New York Jets beat the New York Giants 10-6 in a preseason game Monday night.
Singletary, who had a 45-yard touchdown run in the first half, powered into the end zone to cap a 79-yard drive that took more than 12 minutes off the clock. Joe Flacco started at quarterback for the Jets and went 6 of 10 for 81 yards.
The Jets' defense, which was dominant all night, sealed the victory when Bryce Huff sacked Davis Webb on fourth down with 1:06 left.
The Giants had a chance to take the lead late in the third quarter, but Graham Gano missed a 49-yard field goal attempt wide left. The miss came after Webb was sacked three times on the drive.
The Jets sacked Webb eight times in the game, including three by Huff. The Giants' offense struggled all night, gaining just 195 yards.
"We came out and played hard and we made some plays," Jets coach Robert Saleh said. "We're still a work in progress, but we're making progress."
The Giants were without starting quarterback Daniel Jones, who is dealing with a hamstring injury. Webb started in Jones' place and went 13 of 23 for 112 yards.
"I thought Davis played well," Giants coach Brian Daboll said. "He made some good throws and he made some good decisions."
The Jets will wrap up their preseason slate Saturday at home against the Atlanta Falcons. The Giants will play their final preseason game on the road against the Cincinnati Bengals.
